Curly Maple

These Curly Maple pen blanks are cut from highly figured domestic maple, known for its shimmering “curl” or “tiger stripe” pattern that comes alive when turned and finished. The chatoyance in curly maple gives finished pens a three-dimensional depth that’s especially striking under oil or CA finishes.

Curly Maple turns cleanly, sands easily, and accepts stains and dyes extremely well, making it a favorite for both natural and dyed pen projects.

• Domestic hardwood (Acer spp.)
• Distinct curly / tiger stripe figure
• Cream to light golden color
• Medium density, easy to turn
• Takes dye, stain, and clear finishes exceptionally well

Blanks are squared, cleanly cut, and ready for the lathe. Grain and figure will vary from blank to blank, ensuring each finished pen is unique.
